ANM or Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery
is a two-year diploma programme in the field of Nursing. Interested candidates can apply for ANM diploma after passing their class 12 exam with Science or Arts stream. The two-year course includes six-months of compulsory internship. ANM diploma is the most basic diploma course which can be opted as a starting step towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates of ANM diploma can start their career by working with community health centres in urban or rural areas.
In India the average ANM diploma course fee ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,000 per annum. Which may vary based on the universities/colleges’ standards. ANM diploma graduates can expect a starting salary in the range of Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000.
After the successful completion of the ANM diploma, the graduates are registered as an ANM and is designated as a Nurse. The Nursing profession involves dealing with patients and assists doctors in providing care. While dealing with the different types of patients the Nurse attending them should have enough patience in order to show empathy to the patients. Besides this the Nurse should have demonstrated skills of working with doctors, patients and other hospital administration, compassion with having excellent communication skills
